Countertop Options - 4 Easy To Maintain Solutions

I've got 4 countertops for kitchens for you that you can't go wrong with. They're all easy to maintain, look fantastic, and don't have to break the bank.

Each of these countertop options has it's negative and positive attributes. Let's take a look at them, in no particular order.

Try Angie's List!

Quartz Countertops

I love our featured worktop options so much so that I created this website just to share them with you.

My favorite feature of quartz is how easy it is to maintain. A little soap and water is all you need. No sealing required. You'll also love how impervious they are to stains as well as their scratch resistance.

There is not a single thing that I can think of that I don't like about quartz countertops. Even when you compare quartz vs granite I thik quartz comes out on top.

Granite Countertops

There's not much to dislike about granite countertops. You'll find them to be extremely beautiful, easy to care for, and tough to damage. They resist scratches and heat just as well as quartz.

The only thing that I don't care for with granite is that you have to seal the surface every six to eighteen months. No big deal unless you forget to do it. If you don't keep up with this simple maintanence the surface will become much more susceptible to staining.

Lot's of people compare solid surface countertops vs granite hoping to find an inexpensive replacement. Unfortunately, neither of those options holds a candle to granite countertops.

Corian Countertops

Much less expensive that quartz or granite are corian countertops. Corian is definitely an attractive and low cost solution. However, when you compare quartz vs corian or or corian vs granite, Corian loses hands down.

Many people, likely yourself included, have considered Corian as an alternate to granite, and with good reason. Higher quality solid surface countertops like Corian can imitate the look of granite perfectly. Where you'll see them lacking is with the brilliant luster that granite countertops have.

If you choose Corian over granite or quartz you'll also miss the heat and scratch resistance. Well worth the extra cost in my opinion.

Plastic Laminate Countertops

Plastic laminate is very inexpensive and much more versatile than most people give them credit for. It's a popular option when people are trying to figure out which kitchen countertops are best.

What most people don't realize is that plastic laminate countertops have some heat resistance and scratch resistance. Unless you are doing some very rough cutlery work you likely won't be able to scratch one.

You can also put fairly hot pots and pans on them. Not as hot as granite but much hotter than Corian, which will melt on contact.
