Quartz Countertops Are Radon Free

There, I said it and I'll say it again. Quartz countertops do not give off radon. Don't believe me? Think I'm lying to you? Think about this for a moment.

Raon In Quartz Countertops?

Let me set your mind at ease over radon in quartz countertops.

Quartz Is Not Granite

I think that you already know that quartz is a naturally occurring stone, just like granite. You already know that quartz' close cousin granite emits radon. Right? That's why you're here. Are the radon levels in quartz as high as granite?

(Whether granite really is dangerous is a topic for another debate that I won't get into here.)

Are quartz countertops eco friendly?

Do you know who funded the study that showed just how much radon granite countertops gave off? The major quartz countertops manufacturers!

Quartz countertop manufacturers created a smear campaign against their competition and they used radon emissions to do it. Is the study viable? Yes. Are the results untainted? Yes.

What does this radon study mean to quartz countertop owners?

Pretty much nothing. Other than the makers of competing countertops manufacturers funded the study.

Quartz countertop manufacturers wouldn't throw stones in a glass house. Do you think that quartz countertop manufacturers would tell you all about the radon in their competitors countertops if quartz manufacturers had radon in their countertops.

I hope not!

Bottom Line: Quartz countertops are a safe bet and do not contain harmful levels of radon. Rest easy and sleep well at night knowing that one of the benefits of quartz countertops is that they won't give you lung cancer.
